Boogie’s ‘Everythings For Sale’ Album Review

Minimalistic Music reviews based on vision, art and appreciation. When you have such an admiration for music you realize that you can’t really review an album because it’s so many details, It’s about the artist ability to express themselves not so much what we as listeners would like to hear. It’s projects that you can listen to 7 years from now and just catch something you didn’t previously. I’m just letting you know how the music has made me feel since that’s important too! I just like to talk about music.

Everythings For Sale [Short Film]

Although Boogie is relatively monotone his different flows and deliveries help you hear the genuineness. Every song feeds into another telling a story, It’s ironic that the first songs second title is “reflection” since that’s the setting of the whole project. Within that story is another that can be heard by the underlying statements from his experience of also being a Black Man. The album makes you want to stand in the mirror, It’s a think piece I feel as if every man young or old (for the most part) would actually value since he’s able to speak for those who might not be able to express themselves linear to that realm of life. Personally my favorite part of the album is how the words are put together real poetic which emphasizes his talent.

Boogie’s Miracle Album Commercial

Feelings/Interpretation: A subtle poetry intro lets us know he is not here to get over on us regarding passion and wordplay. To beginning writing his wrongs, acknowledge himself, growth, being stagnant, and bad habits. Essentially stressing he’s at war with himself at the end of everything.

Fave Line(s): “come and save me I feel threatened

Think I ran into a dead in

Ain’t no point in using weapons

I’m at war with my reflection”

Credits: Produced by: Keyel | Written by: Boogie | Mixing Engineer: Mixed By Ali | Assistant Mixing Engineer: Ya Boy N.O.I.S

Feelings/Interpretation: One of my favorite parts of this song is the drag of the words. It makes me feel like lets vibe to the awkwardness of a relationship due to inner demons and poor decisions. It reminds you that everything can boil over and contribute to creating other ways of compromise.

Fave Line(s): “I love to lie, I’m extra’d out

I know I’m wrong but let me slide

If I ain’t right before I rise, tell the world I’m dead inside”

Credits: Produced by: Keyel | Written by: Boogie | Mixing Engineer: Mixed By Ali | Assistant Mixing Engineer: Ya Boy N.O.I.S

Feelings/Interpretation: Simply an Analogy to bring notice to how lucky a love can be and how sometimes it can be just to good to be true but we have it, so we enjoy it. Oh this is one of the cutest songs ever.

Fave Line(s): Just listen to it

Credits: Produced by: Keyel, Mark Raggio, & Ryan Feinberg | Written by: Boogie | Mixing Engineer: Mixed By Ali | Assistant Mixing Engineer: Ya Boy N.O.I.S

Feelings/Interpretation:  THE- EVERYTHING- THAT- COMES-WITH-RELATION(SHIPS)-CAN-FUCKING-SUCK

Fave Line(s): “I done showed you all my ugly, but why the fuck you ain’t judge me

No, my skin ain’t thick it probably bleed soon as you touch me

I love that you hate me, I hate that you fucking love me”

Credits: Produced by: Keyel & C Ballin’ | Written by: Boogie | Mixing Engineer: Mixed By Ali | Assistant Mixing Engineer: Ya Boy N.O.I.S

Feelings/Interpretation*: Truthfully this song didn’t flip a switch for me until I decide to review this project so I had to actually listen to it. It’s so fast I can say I wasn’t listening to it at first. As of now it’s truly one of my favorites!! I think the two parts is what get me the second half is so beautiful and strong it amazed me how it went from one sound then drastically cut into a standing.

Fave Line(s): “I’m cursed of course remorse is gone

I seen my bros get turned to corpse

I’m forced to see em using force and still they’re free in court

they pat me down and grab me up

I’m black as fuck, I say it loud

I’m black as fuck

It’s sad to say that dudes as black as me wont back me up”

Credits: Produced by: James Teej | Written by: Boogie & J.I.D | Mixing Engineer: Mixed By Ali | Assistant Mixing Engineer: Ya Boy N.O.I.S | Samples: ‘No more parties in La ft. Kendrick Lamar

Feelings/Interpretation*: This song is all about the uncertainty that comes with relationships and the possible outcomes after jumping into one. The harmonies and guitar strings in the background gives it a love song feel yet the hard beat does leave it to be too subtle.

Fave Line(s): “But you know don’t know shit bout this flame

It’s lit in the midst of a rain

of bein addicted to pain

thats why I ain’t asked to be saved”

Credits: Produced by: Keyel & Dart | Written by: Boogie | Mixing Engineer: Mixed By Ali | Assistant Mixing Engineer: Ya Boy N.O.I.S

Feelings/Interpretation: I think he talking about the vices that’ll come from being in a relationship. He mentions how he’s worth more than he does but of course doubt comes with that. Ending on how we go through these battles, finally get comfortable enough to enjoy joy and can’t, but we’ll be okay anyways. It has a classic sound which annoys because it makes you wanna just groove and vibe out then it’s over since it’s fairly straight to the point and short.

Fave Line(s): “Find your bliss in the abyss and it could probably fill the void

I’m saying, boy, I ain’t touched my ceiling that’s probably from effort givin

Searching for better living that shit comes from repetition”

Credits: Produced by: Keyel & Nabeyin | Written by: K.Walker & Boogie| Mixing Engineer: Mixed By Ali | Assistant Mixing Engineer: Ya Boy N.O.I.S

Feelings/Interpretation: I listen to this and I know it’s great, It’s just intense and a lot of feeling, perspective, and truth being fed to us FAST.

Credits: Produced by: STREETRUNNER & Tarik Arroz | Written by: Boogie & Eminem | Co-Produced by: S1 & Fresh Ayr | Mixing Engineer: Mixed By Ali | Assistant Mixing Engineer: Ya Boy N.O.I.S

Feelings/Interpretation: Again, time. As we live how many of us question if we’ve every be able to obtain, become, or live out whatever we desire. If we added all the time we took thinking about time and instances I wonder how much time that would be wasted. This is one of those songs you just let talk to you, I like tone of it no so much a particular bar or anything.

Credits: Produced by: Keyel & Dart | Written by: Boogie & 6lack | Mixing Engineer: Mixed By Ali | Assistant Mixing Engineer: Ya Boy N.O.I.S

Feelings/Interpretation: We admire a Man that is aware of the toxicity that can be in a relationship and how it takes two to serenade within it. Is it also beautifully hear the acknowledgment of knowing better than what’s being done, but hey it’s life.

Credits: Produced by: Keyel & Dart | Written by: Boogie | Mixing Engineer: Mixed By Ali | Assistant Mixing Engineer: Ya Boy N.O.I.S

Feelings/Interpretation: So as a collective are we going to consider this a gospel song.  We should, lets listen to it as confessions among the self. I know what it’s about but I’m referring to the sound.

Fave Line(s): “Am I a barrier or am I a bridge

You know the scary thing about it is

How I

Always make excuses when you want to put time in”

Credits: Produced by: Dart | Written by: Boogie | Mixing Engineer: Mixed By Ali | Assistant Mixing Engineer: Ya Boy N.O.I.S

Feelings/Interpretation: Self destruction gave me a very “I’m the shit” obnoxious feel. It’s like a parody song in the best way. It’s calling out the bluffing actions of many while also being like “don’t forget I’m one of the realist out here. S/n the beat reminds me of a villain in a video game or something.

Fave Line(s) “Talkin bout your debit til your street cred get you maxed out

I ain’t read yo caption, I just seen she had her ass out

Bragging bout your xannies til im smackin while you passed out”

Credits: Produced by: Keyel , Mario Luciano, and Ashton McCreight | Written by: Boogie | Mixing Engineer: Mixed By Ali | Assistant Mixing Engineer: Ya Boy N.O.I.S

Feelings/Interpretation: In most cases things get better with time yet that’s not always the case. That’s not the case all the time at all. One of the best test is the test of time.

Fave Line(s): I can’t let you go although I know

Although I know you’re not even good for me, no

I should be alone, you hurt my soul

I should know better, but I do it all the time”

Credits: Produced by: Keyel & Chris McCleaney | Written By: Boogie & Snoh Aalegra | Mixing Engineer: Mixed By Ali | Assistant Mixing Engineer: Ya Boy N.O.I.S

I just love the honesty of the whole album, it’s what I consider a diary piece. Shout out to everybody that contributed in putting it together. Even if you can’t relate to every single song it’s definitely still good to listen to! I place this in the no skip necessary project category which is marvelous because you don’t have to worry about adjusting the album to listen to it with no agony of getting through a song you don’t care for. It’s also long enough for versatility but short enough to just play on repeat.
